About Dr. Baylis

Dr. Thomas B. Baylis is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and fellowship-trained sports medicine specialist who’s been providing superior treatment to patients at Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine for nearly a decade. Practicing in his hometown of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Dr. Baylis diagnoses and treats a full scope of sports injuries, including anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears, tendon injuries, rotator cuff and other shoulder issues, arthritis, and dislocations.

Dr. Baylis earned his undergraduate degree in exercise physiology from the University of Southern Mississippi and his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Erlanger Medical Center, a hospital-based at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine Chattanooga. Dr. Baylis did his fellowship in arthroscopic surgery and sports medicine at the prestigious American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama, under Dr. James Andrews and Dr.Lawrence Lemak. There he provided sports medicine care to the Auburn University football team.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Baylis returned to his native Hattiesburg to begin his practice. In December 2008, he and Dr. Jeffrey Burns opened Premier Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine. Dr. Baylis provides sports medicine coverage to several local high school teams including those at his alma mater, North Forest High School.

In his free time, Dr. Baylis enjoys aviation, hunting, and sporting clays and skeet shooting.

He is married to Karen Bullock, and they have two children, Madison and Meghan.
